CURAWAKA

On the Curawaka – Roots & Horizons tour 2025, the band will come back to Switzerland, playing in October in Zürich and Geneva! They offering an unforgettable concert experience that blends elements from indigenous traditions, Latin American folk and soaring Scandinavian melodies.
Always carrying fresh inspiration and drawing from the people and the nature they meet along the way, the Curawaka – Roots & Horizons show will take the listener on a deep and profound journey through their own inner and outer world, as melodies and sound replicate that of the Earth itself, as voices both invigorate and soothe the cells and lyrics provoke thought and reflection. Roots & Horizons casts a vision of that which makes us human, that which makes us one, inspiring deep connection and the profound celebration and joy of the gift of life itself.
Curawaka is a musical contribution to the great shift we are living through in these times. Comprised of members Anna Bariyani, Tavo Vazquez, Alberto Arroyo, Dario Santamaria Romero and Sabrina Figueroa the band’s nationalities span Norway, Argentina and Mexico, with the rich musical culture of each of their heritage shining brightly through all of the songs they perform and compose.
Having each spent extended periods of time sitting amongst and learning from wise indigenous elders in the jungles and forests of the world, their music offers interpretations of sacred chants and songs, shared with the blessing of the nations they honour, along with original music made to honour Mother Earth and anchor and guide her people through their lives.
Their 2018 album Call of the Wild featured much loved songs such Noku Mana and Te Nande, arriving to huge acclaim and having since been a constant musical presence in countless people’s lives. The establishment of the Curawaka Alliance Fund at this time guides profits back to indigenous projects linked to elements of this music. In 2023 Curawaka released their incredible second album, Dreamtime, a musical journey that took in several languages and drew heavily from the bands own individual influences.
Curawaka’s music is, at it’s core, a response to the calling to share the real and the wild, the true and good and sacred. Incorporating many instruments on stage, including flutes, guitars, charangos, percussion and beyond, Curawaka’s ability to replicate the sounds of the pure force of nature and the heartbeat of the Earth as they play is a mesmerising experience. With concerts lasting up to three hours, their live offering becomes a ceremony of its own. Performed with the deepest integrity and the heartfelt desire for humanity to rise rooted, to sing and dance in ultimate truth and to leave the space inspired, invigorated and wholly alive.
