LABORATORIUM PIESNI
Laboratorium Pieśni / Song Laboratory is coming back to Switzerland to sing the songs of the roots and hearts in female polyphony, celebrating the birth of the newest album of the group, “SEPTEM”!
The Laboratorium Pieśni’s concerts are a journey through the colorful world of polyphony. The ensemble’s concert will feature original arrangements of traditional polyphonic songs, including those from Slavic, Balkan, Baltic countries, as well as their own, laboratory compositions.
The songs are performed both a cappella, as well as with shamanic drums and other ethnic instruments, such as the shruti box, flutes, chimes, rattles. The performed arrangements combine ancient tradition with polyphonic improvisation, intimate sounds and harmony with the wild expression of raw voices in intuitive compositions, often inspired by nature and paratheatrical elements.
Artists about the new ‘SEPTEM’ album:
SEPTEM
There are seven of us. Seven melodies, seven songs about the world. The number seven represents perfection, wholeness, holiness and cosmic order. In many cultures, it has been considered as a mystical symbol, connecting heaven and earth, signifying the cycle of creation, time and spiritual depth. In numerology, the number seven symbolizes the search for truth, intuition and indicates the sage who seeks deeper meaning and truth.
We carry within us the memory of the stars, the constellations of the sky. We carry human stories, which, like nature, are flowing rivers, blowing winds, erupting volcanoes and burning fires. We continue to wander the same Earth together, singing chants in which the alchemy of the elements intertwines with what is simple and everyday – the Path of each of us.
Life has brought us to a place where we are celebrating our new album, “Septem” — from the Latin word for “seven”. Latin, as an ancient language — much like chants — evokes echoes of ancient tales and universal stories that connect us on many levels.
This album is the fruit of our over ten-year journey together. A journey — a path, in which each of us contributes her unique gift to the whole of the Song that We Are.
